Lillian Chege

Position(s):

Volunteer

Lillian Wambui Chege is a native of Kenya who has spent her career working to bring awareness to gender and reproductive health issues that have plagued, but not defeated, marginalized communities in Africa and other nations of the global south. Lillian spent over eight years working with international nonprofits in various capacities, including developing media programs designed to encourage behavior change. She has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Calvin College and a master’s degree in International Affairs from The New School University. Lillian is also co-Founder of Project Africa, a student-led organization at The New School, whose mission is to provide a forum for discussion on issues pertaining to Africa.

Most recently, Lillian has served as a consultant to Bebe Ravi Collections, a cause-driven retailer that hires women from Nakuru, Kenya to knit products that are sold in key markets in the United States, Canada and Australia. In addition to providing employment and empowering women, the company returns a significant percentage of its net profits to the community through the support of an orphanage for children left parentless by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
