"Kids Helping Kids"

Sayid started "Kids Helping Kids" in 2000 after realizing that his country does not readily accommodate or accept people with disabilities, causing many such children to be afraid and/or unable to attend school. "Kids Helping Kids" increases participation of children with disabilities in civil society by providing summer camps that model an inclusive system of education and provide opportunities for leadership building, field trips and other special projects. Since its inception the program has coordinated eight summer camps, eight Christmas parties, and has educated more than 100 young people with disabilities. Sayid serves as the program's coordinator, conducts workshops for new volunteers, designs the schedule for camps and helps to raise the needed funds for the camps to take place. Sayid, who hopes to expand "Kids Helping Kids" and shift his country into a more inclusive society, plans to use his experiences to become an international diplomat.
