Just Peace Summit Opening Reception
The Opening Reception marked the official opening of Three Dot Dash and the Just Peace Summit. Nile Rodgers, Nancy Hunt, Jeni Stepanek, Caryl Stern, Ishmael Beah and Ian Stewart came together to speak on peace and welcome the GTLs to this powerful new global initiative.

Shattering the Mosaic
In Just Peace: A Message of Hope, Mattie Stepanek shares his Mosaic Vision, in which everyone’s life is a beautiful mosaic. But sometimes – intentionally or unintentionally – one’s life is shattered due to conflict, war, negativity, or many other factors. However, one can use these experiences to rebuild an even more beautiful and more powerful mosaic that touches others in an extraordinary way.

The Shared Table and the Power of Music
Sunday night, Celebrity Chef Don Pintabona imparted his vision of "The Shared Table," in which food can successfully promote peace by bringing together diverse people to learn about each other’s culture and lifestyle. Later that evening, influential figures in the worlds of music came together to discuss the "Power of Music" to promote peace, including Nile Rodgers, Tom Silverman, Danny Schechter, Jamal Joseph, and Derrick Ashong.

Rebuilding the Mosaic and the Written Word
After shattering their visions of peace to learn about Mattie Stepanek’s Mosaic Vision first-hand, the GTLs learn how even though their original vision was shattered, it can be rebuilt to create an even more beautiful and more powerful mosaic that can touch others in an extraordinary way.
Later that day, Sebastian Junger, New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Storm, talked to the GTLs on how to use the written word to better "tell their stories."

Communicating the Mosaic with Photographs
During the Summit, Global Teen Leaders learned how to “tell their stories” with photography from award-winning photographer Teun Voeten. Using their new Kodak EasyShare™ cameras, the 30 GTLs went on a Photography Field Assignment to capture the character and ambiance of New York City’s Times Square.

Rebuilding and Communicating the Mosaic
To promote their work, GTLs created a multiplatform Public Service Campaign that will be distributed in multiple languages globally in order to encourage millions to replicate their positive messages and become involved. And to prepare them for the hard work every day, GTLs participated in Energizers to encourage teamwork, concentration, improvisation and just plain fun!

NYC Night Out at the Zipper Theater
The Global Teen Leaders, Three Dot Dash Team and Guests enjoyed an exciting New York City Night Out at the Zipper Theater in midtown Manhattan. Performances included teen rock band Creation, improv group Headshop Guerillas and Academy Award-nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre. During their performance, IMPACT revealed the "Three Dot Dash" song, written and produced by IMPACT and inspired by the initiative. It was an amazing night that no one will soon forget!

NYC Tour
On Thursday, the Global Teen Leaders and their Guardians went on a chartered bus tour of New York City to see Ground Zero, the World Trade Center tribute center, the East Village and the Mosaic Man’s work, and the United Nations, among many other sites.

Closing Ceremonies for the 2008 Just Peace Summit
On Friday, the 2008 Just Peace Summit ended with a special ceremony to recognize the efforts of the Global Teen Leaders and send them “forthward” in their peace efforts. The Summit was an incredibly powerful experience, beyond words and even imagination, where all those involved became a worldwide family that will work together as a unified force to promote a more peaceful society. And although the 2008 Just Peace Summit has come and passed, the yearlong Three Dot Dash initiative has only just begun…
