Mittpheap Steele (Mitty) was born in Battambang, Cambodia. In 1980 she immigrated to the United States with her family after the Khmer Rouge regime. She has worked for the World Bank since 2000, first in Corporate Communications and currently in North American Affairs. As part of the North American Affairs team, she works with groups across the U.S., including youth and academia, civic organizations and more, to educate and inform American citizens about the World Bank's mission to reduce poverty. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Anthropology and Conflict Resolution from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
