Safety, Health, Education
Project:
"S.A.S.S.", “Ahava Kids Youth Advisory Board”
After successfully leading "S.A.S.S." (Student Abolitionists Stopping Slavery) as president, Janet Tso is now taking the lead as Director of the “Ahava Kids Youth Advisory Board” for all of New England and New York. Through both of these projects, Janet seeks to educate the public about the mostly hidden global issue of human trafficking, which has reached epidemic proportions. While president of "S.A.S.S.," Janet traveled to national and international conferences to raise awareness about modern-day slavery, and held an annual Abolitionist Fair to present the issue to students and faculty. She has raised nearly $1,500 for NGOs (non-governmental organizations) that fight against slavery, such as Free the Slaves and iAbolish. "S.A.S.S." also successfully organized a petition in support of a Connecticut law to outlaw human trafficking and to create a task force within the state. She will now use her platform at “Ahava Kids” to connect abolitionists from the Northeast and help finish the abolitionist movement of the 21st century. Janet hopes to one day become a leading expert on modern day slavery. To learn more, go to www.ahavakids.org
